The innovation of the New European Bauhaus initiative lies in the combination of three key components - sustainability, inclusion, aesthetics - as necessary to create the modern concept for the effective implementation of the New Green Deal (NGD); thus NEB is not limited to technical or regulation aspects but provides a holistically transformative approach.
Regarding VET (with Adult Education not excluded), this may keep a very important position within a structured strategy for the promotion and implementation of the New European Bauhaus given:
The high reach of VET as a permanent and repeated process addresses the overall population without age limitations instead of the Higher Education.
The ability to incorporate the green skilling context in training curricula. The relation to target groups for which inclusion is a prerequisite for their participation in VET programs against ethnicity, age or any other kind of discrimination. Aesthetics provides a strong potential for the attractiveness of VET but it also underlines the necessity to introduce the STEAM educational methodology in the overall VET context.
Our project is innovative in several ways:
- It addresses the need for green skills and the implementation of sustainable practices in vocational education and training (VET).
- The project aims to develop a digital tool and branding for the NEB VET Label, which is a unique approach to recognising and promoting VET providers who implement the NEB principles.
- The project involves collaboration between VET providers and NEB projects in different countries, promoting internationalization and cross-cultural exchange.
- The project includes pilots and competitions for NEB VET students, promoting active learning and engagement.
- Overall, our project offers a comprehensive and innovative approach to promoting sustainable practices in VET, recognizing and rewarding institutions that implement the NEB principles while promoting cross-border collaboration and active learning.
