The New European Bauhaus is a creative and interdisciplinary initiative that connects the European Green Deal to our living spaces and experiences. The New European Bauhaus activates different actors at different levels, from big companies to citizens’ initiatives, from national governments to city councils. The New European Bauhaus initiative calls on all of us to imagine and build together a sustainable and inclusive future that is beautiful for our eyes, minds, and souls.
The initiative brings out the benefits of the environmental transition through tangible experiences at the local level. It gives space for creation and experimentation founded on:
- Aesthetics, quality of experience and style, beyond functionality;
- Sustainable, from climate goals to circularity, zero pollution, and biodiversity;
Inclusion, from valuing diversity and equality for all to securing accessibility and affordability
The New European Bauhaus Compass is a guiding framework for decision and project-makers wishing to apply the NEB principles and criteria to their activities. The Compass proposes directions for the development of NEB projects and lays the foundation for more detailed assessment tools.
- exemplifies what beautiful, sustainable, and together mean, at three levels of ambition;
- expands on the three core principles that define a NEB way of working: participatory process, multi-level engagement and a transdisciplinary approach;
- will be tested through interaction with the NEB community. From the start, the NEB is committed to learning from experience
and improving over time.
These guiding NEB values and working principles can become the backbone of the VET centre’s ethos through which the VET students can learn and be guided by them. We jointly plan to accomplish this by creating an outstanding consortium of VET centres and accreditation partners in the project that will leverage their expertise to progress the aforementioned goals.
Overall, the project addresses an important priority of VET internationalisation strategies and responds to the urgent need for promoting sustainable and inclusive education. It leverages the expertise of partners and creates a framework, tools, and community that can have a long-term impact on the quality and relevance of VET.
